Perched atop the Mow Cop ridge, you can enjoy stunning views over the Peak District while having easy access to hiking trails and amenities from this family run site. The campsite is near to The Gritstone Trail, The South Cheshire Way, and The Staffordshire Way. The location is great for wildlife such as buzzards, green woodpeckers, lapwings, foxes and badgers. Everything from solo backpackers to single sex groups are welcome.
A word from the host: As seasoned campers, the Boote family knows what goes into a good campsite!
Prepare for: If you are towing a caravan, it is advisable to follow the directions. Do not follow sat-nav as some of the roads are not suitable for caravans and it is very difficult to turn into the site if you approach from the wrong direction. The site is fairly exposed to the winds, being as high up as it is, so bear this in mind when pitching your tent. And bring strong pegs as the ground may be hard.
Rules:
- Under 5s free. - Groups will be required to pay a £10 per person behaviour deposit on arrival (returnable if there are no issues reported). - Please Note. Day visitors are chargeable, so please let us know if you intend to have visitors on arrival. - Please pick the appropriate extra if your tent is over 2.3x2.3m.
Public transport: Railway stations at Kidsgrove and Congleton.
Nearby shops and eateries: There are 3 pubs within walking distance of the site, all serving fine food and ales, these are The Mow Inn, The Ash Inn and The Crown. There are also several supermarkets within 10 mins drive.
